[wine wedding] darlene + colin in santa rosa

vintners inn wedding

My friends darlene & colin were married September 5, 2010 in Santa Rosa, California.
Their wine country wedding took place at the Vintners Inn & these gorgeous photos were shot by Jesse Leake photography. Below are just a few of my favorite images…of course I simply love the invitation & cake styled together! 😉

Congrats dar & col!!   *darlene was a diy pro! I provided the PDFs for her stationery designed & ready to print / assemble on her own. She based her wedding program on hilary & elizabeth’s layered program, but personalized the details to match her invite along with adding her own lace. **also, read more about her wedding invitations here!

[custom wedding invitation] tear-off RSVP postcard

> just a quick post to show how easy it is to personalize this eco-friendly wedding invitation package!

UPDATE: lesley customized her tear-off RSVP invite by adding a garden rose illustration to match her theme; printed on ivory matte paper with her choice of golden green envelopes

Chelsea loved marilyn’s design {shown below} which included the tear-off response postcard, but she wanted to change the paper color & flower illustration to match her wedding theme! So, we changed the cardstock to a light pink & the flower to a gerber daisy. tear off response wedding invitation
marilyn‘s invite is printed on hot pink cardstock with a parrot tulip flower illustration {also shown with matching wedding cake by Studio Cake}

Real Wedding: Lynn + Ed = Fiji Water Love

Real Wedding

I discovered wedding photos from a fun couple I recently worked with, Lynn & Ed, over on the Duke Photography Blog. AND wow… what a beautiful event that not only showcased a group of very talented vendors, but a very stylish couple too!  Uyen at Sassy Girl Weddings created an amazing outdoor setting to complement the gorgeous Rancho Las Lomas venue in Silverado {southern California}.

Reall Wedding reception

I love that we hung the customized escort tags, which seated each guest to their table, on the mini fiji water bottles. We used the same brown elastic thread that was used around their diagonal booklet invitation {invite shown below}.

I’m also super excited that their chic Wedding Cake matches their custom invitation & address labels, which we personalized just for the couple using orange, brown + a unique swirl design!

Real Wedding Preview: cake & stationery

Viani, a recent client of mine, sent a few sneak peek images from her Wedding Reception in San Francisco’s Presidio…these are such a tease!  I cannot wait to see their photographer’s images. Her Wedding cake / cupcake dessert table is so simple & colorful {+ that custom cake topper is so darn cute, I’m still trying to find out who made it?}.

"wedding cake" "real wedding" stationery

We worked together to create her personalized ceremony & reception stationery {shown below}. I hope her guests loved the custom layered, tea-length ceremony program with twine headband. The textured paper we used throughout is a perfect match for the event’s location.

I promise I will post more wedding & reception images as soon as I can get a hold of them!

Anyone else craving Cupcakes?

Yes, I’ve been craving cupcakes lately and I have no idea why. It must be the holiday season! I also want to plan a fun cocktail list to try at this year’s family get-together {that shall be a separate post}.

Anyway, back to my cupcake craving, my local fave in the San Francisco Bay Area is Kara’s Cupcakes, i love that they sell mini cupcakes + their cake is super moist.  I would really like to try Sibby’s Cupcakery in San Mateo, but they are an appointment/order only bakery {I need to host a party soon so I can order the Sibby’s Sampler}.

{once upon a time…my old biz-partner, karin, made these cupcakes shown above. maybe she remembers the flavors, but oh how I want one now!}

Honestly, I should really find time to bake my own cupcakes, but which recipe do I choose? Frostings too? help!

Ok, maybe I’ll make a stop today to get my quick fix at the  Vanilla Moon Bakery in San Carlos {after I meet my client to drop off her ceremony programs of course} …wait, come to think of it, the dessert table for her San Francisco Presidio wedding this weekend will be set with cupcakes from That Takes The Cake {check out the creative cupcake names + their Cocktail Cupcakes}!   I have not been to this bakery yet, so that’s that, I’m definitely stopping by this turkey weekend since we’ll be hanging out downtown in the Marina /Union Street area! Done.

>> below are a few cupcake blogs with helpful info on finding a local cupcake shop along with some unique recipes too. Please let me know {& the bloggers} if you have a favorite local shop that is not listed. You should give those mom-n-pop shops a shout-out so everyone near by can stop by to relieve their cupcake craving too!

Ah-ha! I just found this post over at San Francisco Style Unveiled, it lists the Top 10 cup-cakeries in the SF Bay Area! {they also have a few more city’s to check out here}

[wedding cake] a helpful budget quiz

Do you need some assistance to determine what cake budget suits you best? Then you must go to Erica O’Brien’s very helpful Wedding Cake Budget Quiz on her blog! what category do you fall under?

{Wedding cakes can cost anywhere from $1 to $20 or more per serving, with the national average hovering around $4. Not sure how much you’ll need to budget for…

Real Wedding: clare + steve = chemistry

Congratulations to clare + steve!  They just sent me a few images from their summer wedding {shot by Amy Squires Photography} & everything looks so bright & cheery, I’m loving how the colorful flowers pop against the brown, blue & cream!  I met with both of them about a year ago to discuss design on their full invitation & stationery suite {I also designed Clare’s sister’s invitations & was very happy for the family referral—thanks Amanda} 😉  They were so easy to work with & I’m very happy I was involved!

*I love-love how their custom monogram is piped on their wedding cake {made by It’s All About the Cake in Dana Point}.

*the periodic table card concept was clare’s {steve is a chemist} so they decided to do their table names as elements from the periodic table, the design was also carried on to each escort card to place their guests at the appropriate table.  So fun & unique for their wedding!

[real wedding] nadiah + jonathan

I worked very closely with Nadiah & Jonathan to create their custom monogram, which we included on their full invitation package {shown below w/their wedding cake}.  We also incorporated the design onto all of their reception stationery; table & menu cards, programs, plus the wine bottle favor labels & escort tags. I loved working with them!
