It seems lately I’ve been designing more custom invitations for DIY clients, who want me to provide either the hi-res PDFs (ready to print themselves) or the printed enclosure cards only (cut & ready to assemble).  And, I just love when I receive their completed wedding invitation suite, so I can actually see the final result! ;) “thanks!”

So yes, I’m happy to report that Papercake’s newly redesigned website is finally LIVE! I barely snuck in this huge project, but I needed the update badly…especially since now the site is visible on mobile & html/iPad too.

I hope you like it…  let me know what you think? ;)

Aloha! I’ve recently returned from a wonderful & relaxing vacation, all because of kelly & katie… I’m so happy they decided to have a destination wedding in hawaii! They planned mini-events during this fun-filled, wedding weekend for all their family & friends who could make the trip {my personal fave was the catamaran, and of course karaoke night!}.  But, after the Ceremony on the beach, the reception was held at the honolulu zoo = free admission!

I cannot wait to see the photos from their big day {photography by Novalee Photo}.
Below are just a few of my quick shots:

The wedding cake was such a hit {from Paradise Pastries}; not only the adorable hand-sculpted monkey’s, but the palm tree, brown-sugar beach sand & fondant water. Plus, I loved the starfish & sand dollar white chocolates {which complemented their invitation design}.

Everything was so simple yet perfect for their theme; from the entertainment under the white tent on the zoo lawn {hula dancer & ukulele singer > hawaii hula company} to their favors & shell decorations. Also, instead of an actual guest book, I designed a “postcard” tent for their guest signing table… we purchased the vintage hawaii postcards at a local ABC store.

Afterwards, we hiked Waikiki’s Diamond Head… then off to Kauai for a few days {which I highly recommend if you haven’t been yet} ;)

*check out Krellers Islander Getaway {room 345 shown}… it was a perfect location & accommodation, plus the owners were wonderful to work with!

It’s official, my busy wedding invitation season has begun! I wish I had more time to post each new design separately, but instead I’ll just start showcasing a group each season:

I love visiting half baked, the cake blog! It’s such a great place to find all kinds of sweet inspiration & ideas {especially the sweet tidbits section}.  For example, these 2 options on styling your Wedding flowers or dress with your wedding cake is a perfect way to tie your theme together…

…which naturally makes me think… from invitation to cake {thus: papercake} ;)

I am one happy gal when I find out my clients decided to add a design or personalized monogram that I created for them onto their cake! {a few of my favorites below}

Everyone is loving the look of opening an invitation like a present, revealing a pocket full of goodness. However, if you plan on adding your website to the main invitation & don’t really need an additional enclosure card (wedding details/map/reception info) but only the RSVP card, you don’t necessarily need a pocket. Your guest will be sending back the RSVP leaving the pocket empty & lonely, & leaving you wondering why that extra money was spent?

So, when Christine wanted to design her invites based on Myisha’s design (shown below) we came up with a fantastic solution: a 3-layered vertical folded card with ribbon sash & name tag on the front, but the invite panel is moved to the bottom where the pocket was, and the RSVP slides under the ribbon at top! I do believe we solved this one with flying colors, don’t you think?! ;) I love it!

Congrats to Amanda & Brian, married October 1st, 2011 at Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma, California!

I’m so glad amanda found me! We first designed their save the date cards, then carried on the “eat, drink & be married” typography theme throughout their invitation suite.

For more design inspiration, I’ve chosen just a few of their gorgeous wedding day photos…shot by Mike Huyn Photography.

I provided all the reception stationery to match & I love how they slid the escort cards into each wine cork (they added a slit in all the corks plus flattened out one side so they wouldn’t roll).
A note from the bride: “We went to the winery and asked for about 100 corks. Most wineries are more than happy to provide the corks for free because it’s FREE advertising for them!”
